About the Photographer

Growing up in the mountains of Western North Carolina sparked my interest in
landscapes and nature. Professionally, I've been an environmental scientist focusing on
water quality and its watershed influences for over 25 years. Thus, I often visit both
relatively pristine natural environments and places devastated by human actions.

I strive to find beauty in the ordinary. My images seek to inspire stewardship of our
dwindling natural heritage, and protection and restoration of ecological integrity for
this and future generations.

Hope, vision, inspiration and action. I believe those things are what the world needs
most. First, there is always hope. My biggest hope in sharing my images is that they
might both inspire your own vision and move you to action. Earth needs you now.
